just say that the west indies, england and south africa all end up with six points. WHich team would have the best net run ratio in this case and go through? What kinds of scores would the west indies have to get in their final two games to go through - hypothetically speaking that is.

The Net Run Rate does not entirely depend upon what score the team make, but the number of runs scored in how many overs and also how many runs the team concede and in how many overs. Presently West Indies are with minus run rate and England have better Net Run Rate than South Africa.

In the event of teams finishing on equal points at the end of the Super Eight series, the right to play in the Semi-Final will be decided in the following order of priority:

- The most wins in all of the matches throughout the competition against the other Super Eight series qualifiers.
- If there are teams with equal points and equal wins in the Super Eight series then in such case the team with the higher net run rate in all matches played against the other Super Eight series qualifiers (in both the Group stage and Super Eight series matches) will be placed in the higher position.
- If following the net run rate calculation above there are teams which are still equal, then the team with the higher number of wickets taken per balls bowled in all of the matches throughout the competition against the other Super Eight qualifiers in which results were achieved, will be placed in the higher position.
- If still equal, the team which was the winner of the head to head match played between them will be placed in the higher position.
- In the highly unlikely event that teams cannot be separated by the above this will be done by drawing lots.

for windies to go through
south africa has to loose to england
windies have to win england
windies have to win bangladesh by huge margin for n.r.r
highly unlikely but still possible
