In every contest it says that the winner has to answer a skill testing question. How skill testing is it and whats it's point?

Before you go winning on game shows, have enough in your check book to cover the taxes. You will need about 25% to take home all your free stuff. Also everything you win goes on a 1099 so you have to pay at the end of the year also.Under 600 is not reported on a 1099 but all amounts are taxable ,they are just left up to your discretion

Please, if you don't know the answer, don't make stuff up.

It's not about being retarded. How would you like someone to evaluate whether you are retarded in order to win a contest? And if they decide you're retarded, you can't win? That doesn't even make sense.

The skill test is a legal formality, just so they can say that it was a real contest.
