Sadly, yes....I had a little red pedal car, and thought I was hot stuff! Now, my grand children have motorized jeeps& sports cars, and tracks for their roller blades, that allow them to do jumps and spins. Childhood has definately changed from making mudd pies, and finding creative ways to play outdoors, that actually "involves" the outdoors, meaning nature. Climbing trees, pressing flowers and leaves into pretty pictures, swinging from the branches on our tire swing, picking flowers, examining every frog, cricket, and praying mantis I could find, and I used to play in the cornfields that lined my back yard. My sister called them, Our Disneyland Cornfields. Aw....the memories. Thanks for taking me back there. ;-)

I remember my cousins had a pedal car! It was so much fun to drive around it...this would have been late 60s early 70s...but I imagine the car was probably from the 50s as most of my cousins were quite a bit older than me.

I'm not part of the "older generation" but my husband has a little wooden pedal car that used to belong to his grandfather.

Sure, they don't make toys like that anymore.
You know, the kind where a kid would actually have to exert some physical energy.
Now the little lazy, overweight, spoiled brats have motorized cars. With cup holders.
I'm talking about the few kids that actually go outside and "play".
Food for thought.....how many kids do you know that have ever climbed a tree?
Or played tag?

DEFINITELY ... all the pedal cars actually - - there were some even decorated like little fire trucks.
Now .. all those toys are plastic -- and with the way toddlers treat their little 'rides' they just don't last long.

Had one when I was very young. Probably 5 or 6. Haven't seen one (original) for years. That was back when they were made of metal. They've probably all rusted away by now. Everything is made of plastic now. And they don't last any longer that the metal ones. They break too easily.

Now I'm showing my age. Yes, one brother had a tractor. The youngest one had a fire truck complete with bell siren and working ladder.
