I see some questions asking for stars almost every other day. What's the point of them?

I honestly don't know, I can't stand the stars. The thing with starring is that when you're on your own homepage, you can see all the Q's that your contacts star and while some of them are really great to look at and answer, it can be a huge distraction when people star a lot of questions. If I want to see what someone likes, I look at what they answered, which usually ends up being the same questions. I don't care one way or the other if I get stars. I DO star some of my favorite best answers and a few other select questions that I like, but I really don't use the starring system that often.
I'd rather have the moon anyway.....

Maybe they close their eyes and pretend each star is a 100 dollar bill. Otherwise I can't think of why it's all that important.

You star by clicking that little star below the question... The one to the left of that little flag. The more stars a question has, the more people think the question is interesting. And more stars mean more fame for the author.
