They have a handle at the top and when you squeeze it opens two little pincher things at the on bottom and you can use it to like grab stuff on the ground if you drop it. like if an older person drops like a pencil or something and they can't bend down they use it to pick it up or if a sock falls behind the washer you use it to pick it up...? any thoughts on what it's called??

i call it a grabber, but i think they are called a reach extender, too.
