As long as we can make ourselves understood it don't matter at all. The first time English spellings were given a "correct" format was when Caxton printed the first ever English dictionary, before that words were spelled in whatever way the person thought looked right. Caxton was no great speller and he simply did what he thought looked right.
If you want to be pedantic, the correct way is the UK English way, any other form is a bastardisation of that, so if you want to nit pick, spell it the UK way and not the US English way.

That´s coz they speak amercanese. In every country where English is the main spoken language, like New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, they have their own way of pronouncing and spelling certain words. Its actually quite amusing when one compares them.

I am an American, but I REALLY like the English way of spelling those words. It makes them sound more intense and sophisticated. Right on, Brits!

Nit picking is the resort of people who have nothing worthwhile to say.

As long as we all know what people mean...what does spelling matter?

I doubt it, Kiddo. It's one of those things where we've sort of agreed to disagree, ya know? Also, when in print, it helps identfy the context if you realize the writer is of English background. (Or not.) Also, has ANYTHING EVER been decided "once-and-for-all"? See? ATTENTION: Nit-pickers of the world: STOP THAT! (I hope that will help.)

Most people who can spell already know that both spellings are acceptable.
Like math, spelling just comes natural to some people.
It's the people who know they can't spell and refuse to utilize spell check that tightens my colon.
Either they don't know how irritating it is to try to read something written phonetically or they just don't care.

I have seen worse hack jobs of the English language...American and British versions.
If we're going to nitpick, we should nab the true illiterates
