I love to work & I love earning money, but I've had 8 full-time jobs in 7 years (not including temp assignments). Part of the problem is that I get bored after I have learned what's involved & I hate repetition. The other problem is that I work best when I'm busy, quiet & at ease and I find that working with & for others stresses me out to the point where I have been physically ill, so I remove myself which makes it worse so then I quit. Talks w/HR don't help. I can't stand pettiness and gossip nor people who have nothing better to do than to try & sabotage someone's career. Most of my gigs have been in advertising production for publishing, broadcasting & internet. I've also worked in hospitals or clinics & law firms-apparently I hate working in an office. Now I am in grad school to become a teacher but it's not the right fit. CAREER COUNSELING DID NOT HELP. What are the best careers for people who are creative & sensitive but don't like working with people? Serious replies only.

oh it has to be a real career where I can make actual money-writing poetry is not exactly something I'd do as a career-a hobby, yes!

It sounds to me like you would be best suited to having your own business. Have you investigated online businesses? You have the freedom from restrictions and dont even have to leave home. If you would like suggestions you can email me at terriallen@WILDBLUE.NET

That is a hard question. - If your a female and your husband is the only one working, you seem to look down on yourself for not contributing to the bills or whatever. But at the same time..... Wow - i really can't answer this question. The only way i could answer this question is if i was a single parent.... but thats not what you are asking----- I guess it all depends on your upbringing when you were a child, if a girls mother told her to marry a successful man so she didn't have to work... then i guess she would worry more about her marriage. But being a guy...... I'm not sure - If i had a job that was very good paying and a wife that tried everything to help out with financial situations, i guess i would appreciate her more for trying to act like she needed to help out. If i was a woman i would try to make it on my own - Just simply because i think it's a beautiful thing ( an independent woman ).. she knows what she wants/needs out of life... she has her thoughts/goals and dosen't depend on anybody for anything, therefore making her a stronger person. I don't even think i even answered your question... I know how I'm feeling i just can't write it down - Sorry Bye the way - Love your avatar picture...... Just the eyes can say so much about a person.

You should work with things and objects. Something that offers variety everyday, that you never know what's going to happen.
Some of these things are Computers, either IT or information; also you could do some kind of service tech job where you get to repair an object and you have very little contact with people, and you can travel to the job sites briefly to repair things.
A truck driver is a good job too. It doesn't sound boring because you are always going somewhere, unless you find long trips boring.

Depends how creative and artistic you are then this reply may be relevant or not. But why not try interior design for clients. You let that creative side take hold but you only work with the same client for a few weeks/months and move on to a new project. You need to start somewhere so volunteer to help friends and family Free of charge to build a portfolio then start advertising. Sounds ideal for all your needs. Otherwise what about working with animals - veterinary assistant or local Zoo if there is one. The animals will definitely not gossip about you - I guarantee it.

Don't know how to drive? Don't like pettiness and gossip? Don't really like people? That says a lot. What you need is a good book and a vacation....

What if it was working with people, but not face-to-face? You could do telephone support of some sort or air-traffic control. Or be a freelance designer.
Do you like working with animals? You'd need to basically restart school but you could be a zookeeper or a conservationist or something like that. Ummm... You could be a horticulturalist or a farmer. Or get your PhD in something you like and go into research.
Orrrr apply at the USPS and sort mail for a few years until a carrier position opens up. Oh, here's a good one, be a long-haul trucker. Those guys make tons of money and rarely have to deal with anyone.

To be serious and blunt, if you don't like people, you've painted yourself into a corner. From your description of what you like and don't like, you have severly limited yourself. If you can't work WITH people, then you won't be happy FOR people either. I think your best bet is some form of self-employment or other career involving yourself and no one else. What about writing, painting, music, journalism?
You sound as though you are certainly motivated
and have a lot to offer. So in summary, if self-employment does not work, you have to be willing to accept
the environment you are living in and make any necessary adjustments , in order to be able to contribute . We can't
change people necessarily, but we can change our attitudes.

Writer (you get to sit and write alone), poet.
You can work over the net. That way you don't have to be around anyone. You can just talk to them on the phone if you have to communicate.

You might try animal research, i believe it can involve lots of Field research. Or even try to become a Field assistant. It would minimize your people time, and get you outdoors, and maybe not to much repetitiveness.
