I've always had a thing about being clean, but I have noticed symptoms that I fear may be OCD. Like the other day after showering at night, I forgot to put on deodorant. I got up in the morning extremely irritated and felt the urge to wash my bedsheets and blankets. Maybe I just hate having dirty sheets - I don't know.

LOL, I just forgot to put on deodorant yesterday and just cleaned my bedsheets right now (it smelled dirty), but no I don't think you have OCD. My sister has OCD (and it happens to be with spending money) and your symptons do not seem in anyway as bad as hers. If you are really unsure, go see a psychologist and let them know in more detail your symptons. It is impossible for anyone to diagnose OCD from these two examples

You need more than that for OCD. Do you obsessively straighten papers on a desk, are all of your socks exactly lined up and color coded,
does your bed need to be wrinkle free with all perfect hospital corners or you remake it until satisfied? When others are not the same, does it distress you?
You sound like something of a clean freak, very mild OCD if at all.

If you are doing things that you would not normally do, and those things effect your daily functioning, then yes, you may be developing OCD. However, if you are concerned about this, and it is not unusually to want to be clean, if you are concerned about this, use an intervention called "self-talk" to keep telling yourself over and over things like, "this is ok. I don't need to wash the sheets. I will be ok." And so on. It can help you "convince" yourself that it was just an oversight and you don't need to wash the sheets.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a disorder most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive, frighteninging, intentual thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or "rituals") which attempt to neutralize the obsessions. Thus it is an anxiety disorder. It is listed by the World Health Organization as one of the top ten most disabling illnesses in terms of lost income and diminished quality of life.

Yes, it is OCD and welcome to the club. It's not suppose to be normal to be so concious about the cleanliness of your surroundings but with all the strange unexplainable bacteria flying around these days infecting us and causing all kinds of medical conditions it's so wonder that the world doesn't contract OCD. Ther are options to control this problem.

i don't think an urge would be ocd. i think it is when you must do something. i think it's a literal disorder. your obsessed with compulsions. i think the guy washing his hands over and over only half realizes it. maybe you're just a little anal? anyway, a disorder is characterized i'm sure by behavior that interferes with everyday living or quality of life. i think it's a mix of sub- and objective.

It's possible, but no one here can diagnose you. Generally, if your symptoms are bothersome to the point where they interfere with your life and you can't control your compulsions, you should seek a doctor's help. Good luck.
