It's funny you should ask.
My elderly aunt that is wheel chair bound just loves popping bubble wrap.
I think it's fascinating and a very simple thing to do that they have to give absolutely no thought to.

Because it's fun and it's safer than braking glass. It delivers a harmonic and psychic release to a percieved locked up tension that all human beings endure as long as we are locked into a physical body wanting out. (Is safer proper, or should it be more safe?)

Totally relaxing.
A friend of mine painted some red, and had the words "stress relief" printed in white on the plain side. He sold lots and made a small fortune.
When he asked his customers why they liked it, no one could answer except by saying it did relieve stress. Why? no one knows!
