It doesn't just look like a diamondback terrapin, it IS a diamondback terrapin.

As said, these are brackish water turtles and need a little different care, and they are protected through most of their range. Please check with your state wildlife commission (or whatever your state calls it) to check the legality of owning it. Otherwise, put it back where you found it, it's job is to make more of it's kind, and it can't do that if it's kept in a cage because someone thinks it's "neat" or "cool" or "pretty".

That is a diamond back terrapin, they are endangered and illegal to own, please let it go. The are saltwater turtles and need a lot of space, special diets, lighting, heating and filters. It will need a salt water tank the size of a kiddie pool if not a little bigger. But again the are ENDANGERED and are ILLEGAL to own, PLEASE let it go.

It's a diamondback terrapin.
They live in brackish water, are difficult to keep, and protected in most areas.
You shouldn't have it.
