The Vice President only finishes out the term of the former President. That doesn't stop them from running again for re-election but he has the served 2 terms even if the first was not a full 4 years. Hope it helped!

The elections would go on as scheduled whether the VP is sworn in two days or two years into the President's term. The VP is only being sworn in to complete the term of the president who has died.

If the Vice President is sworn in as President, he is simply finishing the term of his predecessor. If there is only 6 months left of the current President, that is how long he will hold the position.

No, the VP who will be the new president will fulfill the uncompleted term. Then, he/she can run in the next election and if they win, that will be their first term as president. Think about Gerald Ford when Nixon resigned. His completed term was there simply to grant clemency to Nixon which is what he did - and much else. In fact, he didn't even try to run as a candidate on his own and therefore we had Carter for the next president.
