The electoral college is a very important part of the electoral process and was put in our constitution by our framers for a purpose. So that one state could not hold all the power over the other 13. More populace states could determine the election without it. N.Y, Ca. Tx. and Pa. could dictate to the rest of the country who was going to be president, by shear population numbers alone. .

The Electoral college cannot be dismantled because it is provided for in the election laws of the US. The Legislature must pass a bill for its revocation.

Because it's part of the Constitution. Only a Constitutional amendment can change it and such an Amendment will never get through either the Senate or through 3/4 of the states.
