I am lookign to buy one of these mattress because I suffer from alot of back pains following a bad car accident. I wanted to know your opinion, do you recommend, do you feel more relaxed in the morning, do you get a good night sleep?
My physiotherapist says that whatever anomalies we have in our posture (I have a curvature in my lower back) this mattress will support, instead of correcting (my back should be placed straight, but this mattress would encouragemy back to curve), this is why I hesitate. Also, does it keep the shape of your body over time (like after 6 months of using the mattress every night), or the mattress always regain its original shape even after having spent so many hours sleeping on it? I would imagine the weight of the body to form a crease int he mattress, does it?
Thanks so much

I tried a memory foam mattress and was not happy with it. Your body molds in to it and then you feel like you are laying on A rock. there's no resilience like a normal mattress. Also you get very hot on the mattress. I did not get a good night's sleep and I returned the mattress after a few days.

I now use a Sealy posture mattress along with foam egg crate and I sleep very well . For some people they think the memory foam is fantastic. I've just given you my opinion for what it's worth.

i work for a mattress company that sells tempurpedic mattresses. 60% of our sells monthly are tempurpedic mattresses. They are great for your back. They conform and do give you proper spinal alignment. I would not try a topper, they just do not work the same. They do come with a 20 year warranty, that they will not get body impressions. (up to 1/4 of an inch.) my inlaws have had thiers for 12 years, and it looks the same as the day they brought is home. You can also save the taxes on the bed if you get a script from your dr. Also, places like Mattress Firm, let you have a 90 day comfort guarantee. if you don't like it you can exchange it. I feel sure that you will not want to give it back if you try it. Also, do not cheap out on this product. There are knock offs to the tempurpedic. They have a different density, and will not last as long. Hope this helps.

Yes, we just purchased one, but it's a combo memory foam and latex, no springs...your body doesn't sink down quite as much as with the tempurpedic-type mattresses. We've had it for 3 weeks and are very pleased with it. It also comes with a 25 year warrantee, whereas regular spring mattress typically only have a 10-15 year warrantee due to the eventual degradation of the springs. The delivery guy said it's the only mattress that he's never had to come back to pick up and return. Here's a link to the description...http://www.dormia.com/ultimate.html

Good luck!

After I had surgery we bought a memory foam topper that goes on top of a regular matress. You have the support of the regular matress with the coushiness of the foam. I wasn't sleeping at all until I bought this. I had breast reconstruction following a mastectomy where muscles were moved from around my ribs and it felt like I was laying right on the bones and the topper has been wonderful with helping with that. You can buy them with 2inch or 4inch thickness, I got mine from Wal-Mart. I've been sleeping on this for a year now and it still has the same shape it had when I bought it. Maybe try this out before going to the expense of a new mattress.

Memory Foam Mattress - How a Memory Foam Works

The memory foam in the memory foam mattress is made from polyurethane with additional chemicals that add to its viscosity level, thereby increasing the density of the memory foam mattress. It is often referred to as visco-elastic polyurethane foam or memory polyurethane foam mattress. Depending on the chemicals used and its overall density, the memory foam mattress is firmer in cooler temperatures and softer in warmer environments. Higher density memory foam mattress reacts to body heat which allows it to mold itself to the shape of a warm body within seconds or probably minutes. Lower density memory foam mattress is pressure-sensitive and will mould very quickly to the shape of the body. An example often used to demonstrate its properties is that a hand pressed into the memory foam mattress and then removed will leave a clear impression in the memory foam mattress.
