Yes. I grew up on a dairy farm and sometimes, just for fun, Mom would churn butter with us. We had a little hand churner.
We would always go into it all excited (kind of like when we'd make ice cream) and by the time we were all done, it had been so much work we swore never to do it again- but within a few months, we'd forget.

kind of, we did it in school. in a jam jar with the lid on and shook it till our arms almost fell off, and we got a teaspoon of butter from it! none of us wanted to try it!
