Is it just me , or is cricket flawed when it comes to the world cup. I think match fixing is great for the bookies every year. Heres why i say it exists: Some countries enter the world cup with having a full time job and are not sportsmen proffessionally. And then you have teams that get paid huge sums and are pros that do nothing else all day. So how do amateurs beat pros? = MatchFixing. Look at India and SA. The tournament is also 4 ever and the crowd turnouts are embarrasing. wHy not play 20twenty cricket, it would liven up the game.

Well, I sincerely hope that there has been no match fixing in this tournament. I don't think it's fair to say that the only way a semi-professional side can beat a professional side is through fixing the match. In almost all sports where David vs Goliath matches take place, there has been an upset at some point. Indeed, if the professionals become complacent, even in cricket, it's very possible for a side to beat them.

As for whether or not the competition is sustainable, I don't think it's a question of if it will be sustainable, it's a question of how. It's unfortunate that each of the last three tournaments have had issues which have overshadowed the cricket. As soon as the politics are successfully removed from the competition, we will have a fantastic tournament.

I agree that the World Cup in its present form is a little lengthy, but it still works. The players are used to playing so many matches in quick succession, and although some of them have been complaining about the current format, it provides a tournament where, at the end of the day, the best teams progress to the next stage.

Twenty20 cricket has undoubtedly been immensely popular since its inception and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the ICC decide to pursue a major international tournament in that format, but I can't see that as replacing the World Cup. Part of playing cricket is having the ability to survive a full day's play. That makes One-Day cricket a happy medium between Test cricket and Twenty20 and therefore perfect for a World Cup.

I feel that it is a lame excuse to blame match fixing as the reason for the defeat of India and Bangladesh at the hands of Bangladesh and Pakistan at the hands of Ireland.
