I think that that is a little strong. I don't think Republcans suffer from delusions any more than anyone else. I think the world is complex and everything is tied together and affects each other. I think Republicans, and many other people, suffer from limited vision and an inability to deal with complexity. We are all looking for simple solutions. I don't think a strong religious tone to your thinking helps, because I think God helps him who helps himself. God doesn't know the difference between life and death because all things live with him for all eternity. Thus, if you want to live, don't look for divine intervention, because you might not like the solution! Read between the lines!

To suggest that someone suffers from a delusional disorder implies that the belief held is fixed, false, and not accepted as true by the individual's culture or subculture. Considering the current social divide between democrats and republicans, it is unlikely that either group actually suffers from a psychological disorder. A drastic difference of opinion is a more realistic description.

As a mental health provider and registered republican for the past 14 years, I am definitely in the minority in my field of work. Yet, when I have encountered individuals willing to discuss their political opinions with me (rather than preach or try to convince me how wrong I am), I have found that our beliefs are not that different. However, what is different is the way in which we percieve and interpret the information being shoved down our throat by the media.

Although I don't know what specifically you think republicans are delusional about, I would like the oportunity to challenge some beliefs that many people have about republicans. I cannot speak for all republicans, but I can comment on my beliefs and the beliefs of several of my republican friends. Not all individuals who identify themselves as republican are fundamental christians who push "traditional" values. I support marriage for ALL people, not just marriage between a man and woman. I support a woman's right to make decisions about her body. I advocate for increased awareness and proactive behaviors about the environment. I support educational reform aimed at increasing accountability for all educators.

So what makes me a republican...I support military funding, welfare reform, fair taxation for all (not just increasing the tax for the wealthy...we are a capitalist society after all). I believe we need more stringent punishment for those who choose to break the law and I support the second amendment.

I urge all people, democrats and republicans, to look for information on how we are similar instead of only focusing on what makes us different.

If you think Republicans are delusional, you are consumed by negative thoughts (hate) and transferred your own problems. I suggest you look in the mirror.

Labels and negative names are only applied by desperate people who have nothing of substance to make a case. Republicans are used to being called names like racists, crooks, homophobes, hate-mongers, war mongers, and on and on.

I suggest you sit back and build a positive justification of your own beliefs . By doing this process you will work yourself out of your delusion. How can one have a conversation with one who only responds with negative names.? It is not impressive.

All the members of any group can' t be described the same way. This is called stereotyping. However, there are quite a few narcissists in the group--starting at the top.
