Religions have a history of brutal warfare (except for Buddhism perhaps) in the name of spreading their influence, and destroying other religions. Catholicism is the example, with the crusades, and killing of the Templar Knights, and destroying Paganism, as well as using symbols from religions of Pagans etc. (the communion, eating the bread is from Pagans, the cross, (Symbol of evil, and torture, where people died and were executed, considered criminals, except for Jesus. Jesus is the reason the cross is the symbol for Catholics though). There were probably innocent people who died on them as well, however Jesus was documented in history a lot, so he did something "big" and "huge", because the whole world knows about him.
The church also tried to abolish science, and keep the scientific truths from being revealed through different eras. However, both Religion and Science look for "the truth" in different ways, but they go for the same final objective. Where do we come from, and how did we get here?
Strong actual organized Religions have enough funding and power to keep going. Without this, perhaps people would forget about it and it could be lost over time. Less people seem to be going to church, and the Vatican needs to send money to dioceses all the time. A lot of money is in it, as well as a lot of secrecy in history. However, religions are maintained and preserved through historical scripture.
This is how Christianity has remained strong in a certain way, the other way, through the bringing of faith and goodness, through togetherness. Whatever had to be done though in the past, was done for a cause. Many people have learned though.
Islam as well, with the fighting, and "spreading faith by the sword". This has no good meaning towads treating "people with respect and compassion". Now our world is troubled with Muslim Extremists who carry a message of Jihad and are anti-christian and anti-west. If you burn a flag and are a muslim, count yourself a muslim extremist. If you 'hate' the west or anyone, you are an extremist. Hate is an extremity, and is not considered "within reason" to hate someone or something. Therefore, can it be considered a religion? Yes, a religion of goodness and respect towards all people including women, not really. Forgiveness, not so much. Sharia law considers punishments like stoning, and cutting off hands for theft. Read the holy bible and you may be enlightened. Haha. Compare it to the Quran, but do not reject all that is different. This fundamental of religion is what I call "anti-different". Some muslims hate non-believers, and hate what is "different". Humans do that too much to each other.
Hinduism has its low points of war, and the caste system. Who are people to label each other, and rank them and judge them in places of a structured class you were born out of? We are all equal. This is a brutal form of hatred as well. We still do this every day over in North America though. "That man is a son of a "whatever", what does he know about "doing this or that"?. You can do anything you want if you have faith, and don't let people judge you or label you. All humans are capable of learning, but there are several paths and choices that lead in different directions and outcomes. However, there are those who are good, and we thank them and bless them.
Buddhism in my opinion is a religion that is one of peace, enlightenment, and mindfulness, and compassion towards other people. It's not just compassion, but compassion cubed, multiplied exponentially, because enlightened Buddhists are revered people of goodness, peace, wisdom, and happiness.
All religions have the goal of uniting people. They are a basis of a supreme being and a form of an afterlife, and they are a basis of fundamental faiths for people to continue to "believe" and have hope. It's a philosophy of the pondering of life, and acting out on it.
However there are good people and good people of faith. There are many extreme Christians though, and a lot of them psyched in the head. Watch the movie Borat, and they go crazy in there in that church, and they also forget to even "notice him as he was playing homeless in front of the church" as the "christians walked by before going inside. He did this movie to test other people and their behaviour/reactions, and for comedy, and for benefits of profit, and entertainment.
We also have bad people like Pat Robertson, who doesn't deserve to have a tv show or even spreading religion. He has said too many bad things on camera, the other stuff is going by script. Do not live life going by script, but by what your heart feels, or else you lose true meaning. I wonder what he has said off camera. This man is too literal, and an idiot whenever he preaches. And he's got that stupid smirk, like "I'm in la-la-land". However, anyone can have a tv show, just don't watch it. Good people do not believe in materialism or profiting as much as compassion for others. If you believe in making money, over making peace with others, or loving others, you are partly evil, or ignorant to what is "right" or "ethical". He also preaches hatred to Muslims and calls them terrorists.
Now, good christians aren't necessarily the ones who go to church and do the rituals of mass and prayer all the time. You have to be a "good person", otherwise you are just a robot who goes to these places of 'worship'. God does not care too much about that. God truly cares about how you treat others, with respect, and compassion (love). This is why I just believe in a God, and Jesus was a huge man of goodness because there are historical texts of him. Otherwise, we would know nothing, and would have never heard of him or built churches. Scriptures and writing is the foundation for the church, the church is the foundation for the religion.
There was also a prophet named Mohammed, and a Buddhist (pre buddhism) named Siddartha Guitamma. He is "Buddha". So, in all respect, I do not hate any religion or anyone. In fact, most people are born into their religions simply by the geographic area they came out of the womb in. This tells me even more so to respect women, because we came from women. If I was born in the Middle East, I'd be a muslim. Therefore, do not hate muslims, and do not hate anyone. Condemn people of violence, injustice, immorality, ignorance, and hatred, because their heart is truly blocked and they do not understand, otherwise they would see what is right and be good people.
Siikhism is another good religion, other than strict aseticism which has an extremity. They also protect all species including insects. They treat all species as "with souls" or "special". I still don't believe in their carrying "of the dagger". But others do, becaus that is how they were brought up and influenced.
Buddhism is the best example of spreading universal goodness without violence and hatred. They also believe in "Moderation". God bless you all, I thank you all (in every religious way/point of view), and if you have read all of this, I hope you are left with a feeling of goodness.
