Unless the small case is essential, I think you will find it to be a big hassle to change cases. Sounds like your dealer was being honest with you ... after all, it is probably in their self-interest to sell you a case ...

The smaller the case the more heat it will generate. He is telling the truth. You could still get a small case but it would require a good fan to keep the system cool, fans generate sound. SO its a balance of noise and size.
I ask you, why would you get a small case? If you want to modify or add things to your computer a larger case is more convinent.

Good airflow is very important so that PC components don't get too hot. Otherwise, they will act crazy and cause random PC restarts or worse, die prematurely. Low wattage processors are ideal for small PC cases. A high wattage processor may still be fitted to a small case but you would need powerful and noisy fans too prevent overheating. Many would recommend against putting an Intel P4 (Prescott or PresHOT) in a small case.

It dose stand to reason that the smaller case would have less circulation but all PC have heat sinking that tells the PC when its to hot and shuts down automatically

It's possible if the fan in it is small. That's why laptop got heated up very quickly. When you computer is heated up, your cpu speed will be slow.

Heat is bad. A crowded case has no air flow, therefore, it gets hot.
