I want to buy a Q6600 and i am waiting for 22 april. is this a sencible step. how accurate is this date?. say if its 23 april and i go to the market to get a Q6600 will i get it for 530$ instead or 850$ ? As it is said that the price will drop from 850 to 530.

It may not be that fast. That is the day Intel drops the prices that they sell the processors to the distributors, that doesn't mean the distributors will drop their prices right away. I would say wait about a month after the price drop, the prices will drop very steaply at first, and then slowly over the next few weeks. They should level off after about a month. Also, the price on that chip will drop again this fall, to about $260, thats already been planned.
