The voice is a woman's, sounds of grandmotherly age, and says, in effect, We burned in summer and we froze in winter, but we kept on going and we didn't complain because we were doing what we wanted to. My question is, Isn't that the same voice who played Norman's mom's voice-over in Psycho (the original version involving Hitchcock and Perkins)?

...that question, as far as the voice, as well as the segment bearing that dialogue pestered me for years.....that is, until about a year ago, when I perchance watched a little dramatic ditty from 1941, entitled "How Green Was My Valley".

When the same dialogue came up in that film, I thought my deja vu was working overtime, or something.

...and so, to answer your question, that particular dialogue and segment came from the film "How Green Was My Valley", and elder voice belonged to the Irish-born classical actress Ms. Sara Allgood (who was 62, at the time of the film's release).

...pretty ironic and sneaky film clip, to include in "Creepshow", considering the macabre subject matter in the "Jordy Verril" sequence, eh?!?!?!
