BitDefender 10. Go for BitDefender Internet Security 10 if you can (it only cost an extra few).

I just typed out a whole thing about BitDefender on this other question about AV software, so I'm just going to copy and paste from there. lol. I really can't be bothered typing it out again.

I have BitDefender Internet Security v10 and its been working great. It automatically updates your virus definitons every hour, it automatically blocks trojans it finds in your temporary files (it blocked two on the first day I got my laptop set up). And its ranked gold (gold=1st) on the top 10 antivirus list >> http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ . It doesn't slow down your computer either and it scans pretty fast.

DO NOT try Norton. Norton really sucks. I used norton for the last two years and my computer (of three years) got infected with about 7 spywares and all these different types of viruses. Norton detected them but did nothing about them. Norton would constantly detect high risk viruses but never do anything about them, even if it said it did, sometimes I would still find the virus lingering in my files. I got my whole computer wiped out to get rid of the viruses... they came back straight away. So I DO NOT recommend Norton.

BitDefender is the best! (In my opinion anyway). Kaspersky is also probably as good as BitDefender. The only difference is BitDefender has registery startup protection, and Kaspersky doesn't, AND Bitdefender is much cheaper (most places anyway).

And if you want good virus protection DON'T go for the free antiviruses!

try the windows live site link below it is free for 90 days. Best place to find protection is to go to your securty center in your pc click recomendations. It will open a page with 10 choices recomended by microsoft. all are open for a free trial if you use each of them for the free trial it will take you a couple of years to try them all out and it will be for free. You just have to uninstall them when the trial peroid is up. I would start with the Windows live one care. it works great for me. Againm when the free trial is up uninstall it and go back and choose another use it till the time is up and repete. you may use the link below to get to this page also. but as aI said it is found in your securty settings under recomadations then click how after the "get another anti virus program"

I hope this helps!

As I always say to people looking for a good AV program...you get what you pay for! If you are having problems with a FREE av program you are getting its best. I can list a lot of AV programs, but any number of people could tell you any number of reasons Not to use any one of them. Choose one you like, Use it, Keep it up-to-date. It may be best to choose one that has anti-spy included too. And I do stress...keep it up to date.

Kaspersky, its not free but its the best.
It's easy to use and keep up to date and doesn't use a lot of resources.

*There is a free trail but its worth buying.

*AOL uses Kaspersky. Its branded with AOL but its free for a year think.
