It is not necessarily important.
If you want to keep getting promoted as fast as you can then promotion into a different office can give you valuable experience in a different area.
However, sometimes it is a good idea to stay where you are and consolidate skills. Also, if there are other things going on in your life you may not need the added pressure of a new job.
