why are people still racists although we are in the year 2007?

I daily find myself crossing paths with extremely ignorant, biased, and disrespectful persons from all races. in any event, a customer of mine called me a black ***** for not giving him a penny. yesterday evening my co-worker called me a conconlo(****** in spanish) but thought i didn't understand.. i need to also understand why people are so fast to assume someone's ethnicity, race, culture, etc? it's not good because ppl from all races come in all colours,sizes, shapes, and personalities

People often fear what they don't understand.Racist people are very ignorant,and there will always be ignorant people in this world.
