Don't you think Douglas Adams had the right idea in The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy ? All the useless people got sent to another planet and were told that the rest of us would be along later.

Sport stars. They can play a game with skill, w00t. Is that any reason to become a millionaire? No! Footballer (soccer players for you yanks) are the worst. They get paid thousands, hundreds of thousands a DAY, and all they do is kick a ball. If you want to become a sportsman, and entertain people by playing sports, do it on a near minimum wage, and let the rest of the money go into paying increased wages for important people like nurses, doctors, teachers etc. People who actually serve society.

Would help if the politicians are sent to another planet. Their only job seems to be solving simple problems in difficult ways that only require some common sense approach.
