I used to be good at this but I just forgot. I tried drawing one with these lenghts but it didn't work...

if i remember correctly, it doesnt work, because the sum of any two sides of a triangle must be greater than the third side

No you cannot because a rule states that the sum of any two sides of a triangle has to be greater than the third side, 2 + 8 = 10 but is not greater than 10.

No, 8 + 2 = 10 which is not greater than the other side. In theory if it was 8.0000001 + 2 = 10.0000001 you could make a triangle . The sum of the 2 smaller sides must be greater than the 3rd longest side.

Well, no. You'll end up with a really swell straight line, though.

8 + 2 = 10 , so the sum of the first two sides equals the length of the third, so, in essence, you end up with a line.

You don't need a rule out of a book, just think it through. It can't be a triangle.
