oh, no doubt global warming would counteract, but fascinating people keep referring to different sites that say not in, in, starting, if so cyclic and periodical seems should be easy to define, i know ice ages are gradual, and even if we are experiencing global warming, i'm sure the global warming caused by man, would move much faster than the start of an ice age caused by nature, just keeps getting cold where i'm at lol, poor homeless cats with kittens outside get cold, you know its funny the so called greenhouse gases they speak of and particulate matter produced on one Nova program said in some areas was causing Global Cooling cause absorbed suns rays and blocking out, almost like during industrial period in US and England in early 1900's said caused bit of a Global Cooling, man definitely effects faster than natural cycles though

I find it odd that there are those who still think an ice age is on its way considering that parts of Greenland are now exposed because the glaciers have melted, huge ice shelves are breaking off Antarctica, and in the summer, there is a great deal of open water at the North Pole. Not to mention that desert areas are expanding all over the world, and sea levels have risen.

Yes, a CLIMATE CHANGE is going on, but the continued temperature elevations would be in favor of a warming trend, not an ice age.

Not really. All we have is Antarctica and the North pole (hey Santa). Although this past year has been a lot colder. it is because of global warming. Global warming will make the earth colder, in spite of its name. All of the ice will melt, making the water very, VERY cold. Then when it spreads throughout the earth's waters, it will be cooling them. The oceans will get colder, and the water levels will rise. Many fish and corals will not be able to survive the cold water. Some of the 50 States will even get flooded! (i.e.,New York)
Now you see, it's not an ice age, just humans destroying the earth's atmosphere.

From what I've read we seem to be in an unstable period which is a warming trend, probably due to 1)our effect as a huge population with the means to artificially cause changes (agriculture, release of mineralized carbon from fuel use and dependence, destabilization of the ocean ect) and 2) a natural warming event of whose cause is not completely understood but has components in the earth system as well as out of the earth system (Mars has a similar trend, are they connected in a way?) If you take a chunk of time and graph temp changes, some chunks may show us warming, longer ones cooling, other ones stable. The problem frequently is statistics can be manipulated to show many things and need to be taken with a grain of salt.

We're actually coming out of an Ice Age right now. That's what the whole Global Warming thing is in reference to. Whether or not we humans are truly expediting the process of Global Warming, which is still unproven, but seems likely, the Earth is going through a warming trend associated with exiting an Ice Age.
