I have 2 pcs. One has windows 2000 pro, the other win98. I want to control both with the windows 2000 pc- including being able to run scandisk/ defrag from the 2k to the 98 pc. I have them networked, sharing drives from the 98 to the 2K, but still no access to run the scnadisk/ defrag. I do not have the original OS disks for the win 2K, either. Any ideas ? - from EXPERIENCED pc users ?

You can download a free software called VNC (http://www.realvnc.com/) and install it on both macthines. Then, set to run VNC server on win98 each time on startup.

When you need to connect to win98 thru your win2k machine, run "vnc viewer" on your win2k machine. Type your win98 computer name on your pop-up screen and press enter. You should be able to control your win98 machine remotely.

Use whatever VNC type of remote desktop tool that hits your fancy and remote the 98 machine.
