Roger Staubach, because unlike Troy Aikman, he wasn't expected to be that great, come on if you are picked 129th and had Bert Bell,Heisman,Maxwell award and to become a 6 time pro bowl, superbowl MVP, Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor,NFL's 1970 All-Decade Team compared to Troy Aikman who is expected to be that great

I can't speak with authority on Staubach, only what I have heard about him.
I have to say Aikman. The guy never stopped playing, which meant that late comebacks were always a possibility. Now I hear people saying that Aikman had a great line (which he did), awesome run support (only the best of all time) and targets that were reliable and spectacular in equal amounts...all good points. But to stay productive even after a lot of those guys retired or left...that was the mark of the guy.
He was beat up beyond all reason and eventually gave into the concussions...
I feel lucky to have been on board for the years he was in the pocket...I've been paying my dues since then - let's hope that Romo is given every chance to do well.

Don Meredith. His go for broke style, and coolness under pressure turned the Cowboys from an expansion team into a league power. Had it not been for two plays against Green Bay, the Cowboys would have been the team of the 60s. He was very underrated, and retired early.

I'll go Staubach... Eventough I never saw him play, I believe Roger could do more by himself and Aikman has a superb supporting cast.
It is close because Aikman was so talented and all the physical tools, but Staubach had the intangibles and a bit more charisma.
It may be that I want to see someome better than Aikman... will that be Romo?

You have to make an argument for Troy Aikman in the 90s (3 Super Bowls)...Roger Staubach had 2...

Staubach, he could run, he could pass, and he was a leader... He's a hall of famer and he only played like 6 years because he started with Dallas when he was 28 because of his committment to Navy, think if he got started earlier he could have possibly been the best qb ever... He was a winner, and pairing him with Tom Landry, the best duo in football history, in the short term...

If Aikman would have played a few more years, then I would say him, but it's probably Roger Staubach. I also have to give a nod to Danny White.
