My rear lights and gauge lights will not light up, I changed the fuse twice, but it's still not working. Any idea what else could be wrong?

I'd start by making sure you have power to the socket the fuse is plugged into. This is easily done by using a test light one side should have power the other should not. If there is power make sure that when you put the fuse back in it has power at Both sides of the fuse. If there is no power on either side there is no connectoin to the fuse and it's a minor repair just replace the connector in the fuse box. if there is power only on one side of the fuse it's just blowing the fuse right away when you put it in. then you'll have to do some wire chasing to find the short. Possible and likely to be an issue with the headlight switch. Also check ground wires usually hidden behind the kick panels just in front of the doors. ( see if you can find a wiring diagram this will help you ALOT a dealer ship or a chiltons manual should provide this). If the was no power to either terminal in the fuse box you'll have to check for boken wires between the fuse box and the power supply. Hopefully this helps a little. However electrical troubles can be very diffucult to solve this is merely the most typical or likely causes. However may only be the tip of an iceburg when it comes down to it.

You didn't say if the fuse was blown or you just replaced it on a guess. It could just be a bad headlight switch. The tail lights and gauge lights work off the same circuit.

Unfortunately you have and automobile that has a history of transmission problems. I replaced mine after 37000 miles. 1000 over waranty. I promptly sold the car. If the car is smoking after an oil change, the technician probably spilled oil on your manifold. Otherwise you have an oil leak. Also the transmission fluid levels are important but they can be misleading. A car can suffer a transmission failure and you would never see the difference. Get a good mechanic. Stay away from the dealership. I used Ammco Transmission. the last time. They are a little expensive but they are national and they give a 1 year waranty. And they do good work. Good Luck

If you had to replace the fuse twice, then you have a short to ground in that circuit. You can get a wiring diagram and physically trace the wires to see where the problem is or you can take it to an auto electrical repair shop and let them do it.
