I think they are passive aggressive. They think they are important and do not want dings. Really ,someone will eventually loose their patience with this *** and bat their windshield ot slash their tires.

Some people are so proud of their car and love it so much they don't want to take the chance that some idiot will open a door up into it. I don't take up two spots but I do park far away from the crowd if I can.
Quick story: Picking up wife for lunch, she's at work, I'm in the parking lot sitting in my car. My new IH Scout2 4X4. Anyway two very old ladies pull in the spot next ot me in a Lincoln, she throws the door open with a vengeance. Slams the hell out of my door, and then I never got so much as I'm sorry or even a look from her. If my wife, hadn't worked next door and I didn't have my 2 girls with me in the truck. I was so mad I was tempted to jump up on her hood and stomp the roof in and kick the doors in for good measure. Common sense prevailed but that made me so mad, she had no respect for my property, that I had to work so hard for.

Just got my car painted.Went to get groceries and parked away from everyone.This battleship of a car with two fat women pull up beside me and the passenger slings her door open & knocks the hell out of my door.I make a few comments and she just laughs.She takes a couple of steps and goes back to the car and throws the door open again and WHAM.Does it again.I waited till they went in and put my foot into the side of her car and went on home.
