I am 13 and have a bedtime of 8:00. I think this is too early. What bed time should a 13 year old have if any?

my brother is 13 and goes to bed around 9 or 10. it all depends on how early you have to get up for school. you should get around 8 hours of sleep, especially on school nights.

Ur 'rents are crazy. U only need 8-9 hours of sleep. So 8:00 is okay if you have class at 4 or 5 IN THE MORNING! I'm 13 and I have to be in bed by 10:30 on school nights and I have NO BEDTIME on Fridays and Saturdays. If I were u, i would have a SERIOUS talk about this. Try to get them to move the bedtime up by getting better grades, doing chores, doing favors around the house! WTH?!!!

Well im 12 almost 13 and dont really have a bedtime but my dad makes me settle down at like 9:30 but i stay up tiill 10:30, then i go to sleep on my own.....Have your parents read this and tell them that you dont need a bedtime like a 5 year old. You are right, 8:00 is way to early, my nine year old sis goes to sleep at 9:00 so thats pretty dumb. maybe compromise with them and say "for the next week, ill go to bed at 10:00-10:30 and you can watch my school work, and if i get grumpy.......try to act how you normally do so they will continue to let you stay up...and i alos wanted to add.......on weekends, i can stay up as late as i want, you should be able to also.

Well, 800 is considered early for that age, but when you get older and are in highschool, you will thank your parents for making you go to be so early and getting that much sleep. I would love it if i was able to go to bed early, and get more sleep because i am sleep deprived all the time...and im only 17! When i was 13 i was probably asleep by 10. i didn't have a bed time...it just depended what time i got my homework done. My sister is now 13 and and 8th grader...and sometimes she has so much homework that she stays up till 1 in the mornin! I would talk to your parents about having a specific 'bedtime'. Im guessing you are the oldest because it seems like they are still treating you as if you are 8. TAlk to them and show them how much you have grown up and matured and ask them to extend your 'bedtime' or just not have a bedtime and go to bed whenever your done with everything. good luck.!

I agree with you that 8 is a bit early for 13. When I was 13, my bedtime was 9:30 on school nights and I could stay up reading til 10 if I wanted to. I thought that was fair.

Well i have a 12 year old boy, he wakes up at 7 am for school, and goes to bed at 10 pm, that is 9 hours of sleep, and he is thriving at school and doing well in life, i do consider 8 too early, i put my 3 year old and 7 year old to bed at 8. I would extend it to 9, and see if he does well, then give him 9:30, up to 10, if he starts to be grumpy or not do homework, or well at school, make the bedtime reversed.

At that age she desires 8-9 hours of sleep. So, say she has to awaken for college at 6, then 10:00pm could be an appropriate mattress time. 10:30 is a superbly suitable bedtime for a 13 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous. yet once you have alot of bedtime problems along with her, you need to attempt this. permit her stay wakeful as previous due as she needs for a week (as long as she's in her room by a undeniable time) and see if she would have the ability to shelter waking up for college on time. by the third day she would be waiting to probable be going to mattress early on her very own. If she would have the ability to't shelter waking up for college on time, even in simple terms as quickly as, then make her circulate to mattress at a sequence bedtime.

I think you should talk with your parents about how you feel about what time you think you should go to bed.

Be calm and suggest that maybe you could trial a later time than 8pm.

Tell them that you are getting older and would like to be trusted to choose your own bedtime.

I believe 9pm to 9.30pm are a good time for a 13 year old because you want to be able to wake up refreshed and not sleepy.

I know how frustrating it can be to have an early bedtime because when I was 9 years old I could never understand why I had to go to bed at 7.30pm and all my friends could stay up until 8.30pm....

Yeah I find that kind of early as well. It depends on how much sleep you need.

For example, my nine year old is a morning person and use to have a bedtime of 7:30. Lately though, I've been putting her to bed a bit earlier as she is having a hard time getting up in the morning.

Every person needs a different amount of sleep in order to function well. Myself, I function best on 6 to 6.5 hours of sleep.

Teenagers
About 9 hours of sleep per night. Teens have trouble getting enough sleep not only because of their busy schedules, but also because they are biologically programmed to want to stay up later and sleep later in the morning, which usually doesn’t mesh with school schedules. when i was 13... last year, I didn't have a bed time, i've always been sensible enough to know when I need to go to sleep, NOT SAYING THAT YOU'RE NOT :P

8.00 seems pretty harsh! That was my bedtime when I was 6 or 7! If its at 8.00, does that mean you cant stay out after 8.00?

If your parents INSIST on a bedtime (even though you should be old enough to judge your OWN sleepyness) how about 10 on schoolnights, and none on weekends? That sounds pretty fair.
