A strange and awkward action though it may be fair.
Even Dhoni's heaves for sixes are awkward to look however effective it might be.I am an Indian.Don't attribute hidden meanings to simple criticism.

Hats off to PLAY U 2.Yes machan you are right. If his action is illegal i dont think Australians will keep their mouths shut. Can u remember the way aussies went after murali? So if they have the slightest doubt they would have surely gone after malinga. But they didnt, So its obvious that malinga is 100% legal.Even the ICC hasnt got any problem.Anjitha then why are you asking this question?

It's true that malinga is different to other bowlers around the world. But his bowling actiom is legal.Just because he is different you cant accuse his action as illegal. Can u?In cricket
bowlers are allowed to bowl either in a round arm action or in a horizontal action which has horizontal circles. So malinga is bowling in that way.I'll give u more examples to this action.JEFF THOMPSON(a lot similar to malinga) of australia and waqar younis of pakistan(bit similar).I hope you understand what i say.

Dear Anjitha, What do you know about Cricket, Why don't you ask " whether Glen mc Grath , Bret Lee , shane warn or any other great bowlers action?

Just because Malinga is a threat to other teams ?

Have you seeing him trowing the bowl, bending his elbow or chucking?

Don't try to penalize a young out standing bowler. He's exciting (may be not sexciting to you).
He is a gifted talented player to world cricket with natural talent from a rural country side of Sri Lanka.

Australia have every right to complain if they believe a bowler is throwing, though I felt sorry for Muli.
But there is no rule against bowling round arm like Malinga does. It is a throw when a bowler straightens his arm during his bowling action, which is clearly not done by Malinga.

Cricket needs characters like Malinga, Muli, Warne etc

People here are only discussing what is 'currently' legal or illegal according to cricketing rules. I feel this sort of bowling comes more like a baseball throw rather than an expected overhand. It gives the bowler a better advantage with a faster pace. I think it should be disallowed. As far as any critics talking about the hurt Indian pride, let me clearly clarify that I am Indian yet don't at all think India deserved to go into the second rounds. So please keep your nonsense to yourself. I wonder who coached this character???

He is from sub-continent so even if there is a slight problem in his action thn for sure he must have been critisized by all those westernerz before he start the world cup matches. Not even australian cricketers commented about his actions.

What makes you to ask this question? Desperate or what?
Do u think ICC will allow to play malinga if his action is illegal.

Well,I would say it's not.As far as the ICC has no problems it's a clinical action. But,yes it certainly is a little offensive. It's tough on the batsman to see the ball and especially when the ball's a yorker. It's also an advantage for the batsman because the type of acion he has does not generate a lot of bounce making it easy for the batsmen to stay on the frontfoot and reducing the chances of L.B.W decisions.

Well, the action of Malinga certainly appears to be offensive but the ICC have overruled the ban on him. He is not going against any of the rules of bowling.

its been approved by ICC and ICC CWC. Plus its affective, hes 2nd in wickets taken in WC 2007. Also watching him against RSA when he took 4 wickets off 4 consecutive balls was amazing. Muttiah went thru the same problems with his bowling action, alot of people thought it was illegal. But it has been approved time and time again. Lasith got skillz baby. GO SRI LANKA!!
