what is contrast ratio?

whats better higher or lower?

The viewsonic has a contrast ratio of 700:1 where as the Sceptre has a contrast ratio of 1200:1 which one is better?

I think I would take the Sceptre because of the higher contrast ratio. The higher the contrast and brightness the better, and the lower the response time the better.

Hi. Contrast ratio is the difference between the brightest and dimmest part of your monitor, so a higher ratio is better, all else being equal.
