Neither of them refer to specific decades. Retro means a recreation. Something that is in the same style. Like if flapper dresses came back in, they'd be retro.
Vintage is something genuine and original. Like a flapper dress from the 1920's, not one that was made after the style.

Without looking it up I've always thought the two terms mean the same thing, i was looking on eBay the other day and found an old toy i once had called "big trax" it was being referred to as vintage and retro toy, if there is a difference i would be interested in knowing that.

A retro is a reaction engine used to decelerate from orbital velocity and facilitate a re-entry maneuver.

Ventage is what you get when you open the external exhaust port for the urine collection chamber before you fire the retros. Ventage was first observed by John Glenn on February 20th, 1962, who said it looked like "A thousand million little gizmos whirling about the ship.", and that it was very pretty. Glenn was later severely chastised by NASA brass for using the unmanly word "pretty" on an open radio channel.

Wait, you said "vintage", not "ventage". Sorry, I only know about antique space vehicles. Can't help you.

retro means to style something similar to an older era. Vintage is the genuine article either restored or preserved.
