I know there's a bunch of different brands of pills then there's also the shots. but I hear the shots mess people up and they gain a bunch of weight. I'm really looking for what people experience on the pill. thanks

My wife and her sister (both are married) have tried various birth control methods, and these are their experiences. With the Depo shot each one experienced depression, and a noticable drop in sex drive. Her sister prefers the pill, but because the pill is VERY picky about being the taken at the same time every day she's had one child now that they weren't planning on. My wife uses the Ortho-Evra patch, and that's worked well for us for over a year now. There was a big to-do about an increased risk of death from it, but when we read up on it we found out the LIFETIME increase in risk was comparable to the total risk you take by taking a one-time 45 mile road trip on the interstate. To us, that wasn't nearly enough to worry seriously about compared to the benefits of only having to change a patch once a week and getting great (99% range) protection until we're ready to have kids.

Any birth control has side effects and none is 100% guaranteed to stop you getting pregnant. The only thing any doctor would say is 100% guaranteed to prevent pregnancy is DONT DO IT!
Sorry its probably not the answer you want but hell, who said lifes fair!

There is no one answer to this. It depends on how old you are, how your health is otherwise, whether you want to bear children in the intermediate future, what you or your insurance company can pay...

the pill is the best. once you find the one that works with your body, you are really well protected. ask your doc to prescribe one for you.
