How about...sewing patches of fabric onto old jeans?! I remember my Grandma taught me how to crochet one summer. Crochet is real easy and fun.

What about a quillow? It's a small quilt (covers just the top of a twin bed) that folds into a pillow. They're great for around the house throw blankets, car trips and sporting events.

Or search "quillow" and you'll come up with more instructions.

I can't think of the name at the moment but theres a really good book with patterns for toys on the sewing machine. Stuffed animals, balls, blocks, etc. It could be fun for them to make something they could play with later.

A quilt, so easy, just squares. They can even come up with thier own pattern and colors. My mom started my niece at the age of 7. She has her own little machine and every thing. She really likes it, she makes blankets for her dolls.

hair ties
sizzors
scrap material
cut in to 6 in long strips and 2 inch wide
sew the 6inch sides together
now take a 3inch peace of elastic and pull thru and tie in knot now fold the two ends in and over lap them and sew across.
