My jeep will start fine but then when I turn it off for a few minutes and try to restart I have trouble.Then sometimes it will turn off while I am driving.I have read about vapor lock but this is a fuel injection.could a bad catalytic converter cause this(mechanic said it had a bad catalytic converter).

yes it will cause it,i own a shop and if your driving it around with a bad converter on it there's a good chance you might do some harm to the engine in it,simply because of the heat build up in it,and this may be whats causing it to die like that ,but if i had been told i had a bad converter i would have cut it off ,you can ruin the engine by driving it like this,you need to either get another converter on it or get that one completely off of it,either way you,ll be helping it,good luck i hope this helps.

The cat and O2 sensors are probably both bad. Bad O2 sensors will make the jeep run way too lean, and it's worst when the engine is half warm. My 98 had the same symptoms. I'll bet when you do start it half warm it bogs down the first time you try to accelerate.
