If I felt a very real, very strong connection with them, just knew deep down this person was worth my every effort, I would do my best to make it work. I think we would get along VERY well.

Yup. And you can be from Ohio, have a relationship with someone from Michigan and actually get along......why, I even believe that one person can be freckeld and the other person non-freckled and they would get along famously!!!!
