Get a good cat-back and ask the shop to put a resonator in the midpipe if it doesn't already have one. That way, you don't have the loud annoying exhaust everyone makes fun of - and you'll have 5-10 more HP to enjoy.

If your looking for a HP gain/fuel efficiency you should look at more than just a cat-back. Consider a complete exhaust consisting of a new pipe from manifold to the cat (which in my case I installed a Catco Hi-Flow Catalytic Converter) then another section of pipe, then a resonator (quiets down the car ALOT) then another section of pipe and finally your muffler at the end. I would look at Apexi, GReddy, Borla, PaceSetter, or even a Dynomax or Flowmaster(yes they make mufflers for imported cars). Not only will this quiet the car down but, it'll make the car more responsive and have a better topend.... Consider 2" or 2 1/4" exhaust pipe. Going any bigger will loose backpressure (which all 1.6L Honda's V-Tec or not, enjoy). Hope this helps somewhat.
Also, pick up a copy of Import Tuner magazine. You'll find some helpful information in those books all the time.

first off this is an old car. put as little money into it as possible. second, cat back is just the exhaust system from the catalytic converter back which usually means the pipe from the cat back to the muffler and the muffler. if u decide to go for more power, u will also have to put up with more noise. hope this helps. happy motoring.

It depends on what you are going to do with the car as, cat back systems are more for racing. If your looking for something just for driving then I would suggest the aftermarket muffler and, leave the rest alone.

Honestly, as far as performance goes the stock muffler is as good as any aftermarket, coffee-can sized poser crap. You will see NO difference in HP unless you make major changes and modifications to the fuel system, computer programming and intake.

Honestly..i think all u honda ppl are a joke with you pop corn machine sounding exhaust. If you want to hear what a real engine sounds like..pull up next to a v-8 with dual exhaust.
My 2000 ford F150 V-8 has put many of you honda lovers to shame in my dust. sorry bro....i hate jap crap
4 cyl. & 6 cyl. engines with exhaust systems sound so corny.
