My husband knew my passwords until he went through my email when drunk, and totally lost it on me for having a picture of my sisters new boyfriend. (My hubby didn't know who it was) I now have passwords on everything I can, and if wants to know whats in my email, messenger, or just on my part of the computer I will be more than happy to show him anytime. I will also type my passwords in for him and he can look for himself with me there.
If there's anything important or amusing I do tell him right away, but I don't want anyone going through my stuff willy nilly.
I do have all his passwords though. I don't use them though.
I do trust him with my bank account though...strange eh?

I think it depends on what it is the password to. Obviously, if you have a joint checking account that is managed online, you both need it. But as for him reading your mail, in my book that is crossing a boundary that shouldn't be crossed. Conversely, if I had someone's password, I would be tempted to read their mail, and I don't want that temptation.
I think it is best when couples maintain healthy boundaries and give each other space. I would never give out my email password.

I make sure my husband has my password, but he has never checked up on me. I just feel more comfortable with him knowing he has complete access, even if he never uses it. I have nothing to hide, so I don't keep it from him. I have my husbands password, but I couldn't tell you the last time my husband used his account. He never uses it, so everyone just sends his stuff to me anyway. I don't want to hide anything, just because it may look suspicious.

I have been married for over 7 years. My husband and I both knew each others-until I found out he had a secret e-mail account that I didn't know about.I managed to get it open and found things I know he didn't want me to see.I changed his password, without telling him,so he couldn't open the mail anymore. Finally it got the better of him and he asked me about it-I gave him a look of disgust and his new password.Sometimes silence speaks louder than words.
Then of course,I changed my passwords on everything, just to piss him off.
Tit for tat.Childish I know.

My husband knows mine because if I suddenly died tomorrow, I would want him to let a few message boards know. Also, I have his for the same reason. We have no need to snoop into each other's computers because we share everything anyway.

Nope, we have seperate accounts of stuff like the bank account even. I trust him & have no need to ever use his email or anything. He feels the same way.

No If he wanted your passwords but did not freely give you his that is just control and two separate sets of rules and that will never work.

I have no real secrets from my wife. She knows where all passwords are written, has all bank account numbers, and has probably never checked anything. But, she's more than welcome. I've kept one thing from her though. Her spaghetti sauce isn't as good as mine.
