if its pentium 4/AMD AM1 ... (it should tell you under rightclick mycomputer > properties) , or if you bought you computer over a year ago... its DDR1 that you need.

Best ram, pick the highest priced corsairs XMS series DDR 1 GB, 2 sticks of 512mb. those pwns.

btw, 2 sticks are better the one, run it dual if you can.

newer AM2 or pentium solos/duos, go for corsairs XMS series DDR2, 2 sticks of course.

i recommend newegg.com

Okay since you didn't let us know any specs, go here:http://www.crucial.com/ and use their memory advisor tool, it will tell you the right type, but DO NOT buy from them, way overpriced. Go to newegg.com and find the right type. As far as companies, here are the better ones, in order of quality: Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, GEIL, OCZ, Patriot. This is of course stictly my opinion, but it does come from a fair amount of experience working with different brands.

What you need to do is remove one of the ram sticks and take it to the store with you. The sales person must know the ram type, form factor, speed, clock stepping, etc.

Als take note to how many banks you have and how many are used up presently.

If you want Cheap ram, go with Kingston, if you want performanc, go with Apacer.

Yeah you are right! A model number WOULD help! From your previous questions, I would have to say, if you cant give details, dont post questions! How do WE know what you have for a PC?
