I'm 16 going on 17 and I applied to a clothing store that hires at 16. How long should I wait to call and find out if anyone has looked at my application and/or made a decision about hiring.I dont want to be annoying but I do want them to know I'm intrested. Also, how many times should i call, and who should I speak to if the manager or the person in charge of hiring is not there?

First thing tommorrow you should call the manager and thank him for considering you for the job. You should also let him know that you really do want THAT job and that you would make a good and dependable employee.

Good for you and your initiative in finding a job! First.. depending on how you applied. If you mailed the app. then wait at least a week before contacting the co.--if you dropped off app, about 3-4 days. When I called, I would ask to speak to a store manager: if you have a problem with getting in touch with one (store manager) over the phone, I would go directly to the store. When you go to the store, I would have in hand a letter written directly to the store manager, even if you do not know the formal name, about how you would fit the position, and how you would benefit the Co. This is even better done by E-mail if you have the address. Show your interest, because it is not done often by those of your age! All the best of luck to you, and I hope you get the job you want!!!!!!

First: have you ever sent your interview "thank you" notes? this is form of a 2d "chew on the apple": it is going to shop your call in front of the interviewers. a week could be a minimum for a save on with-up telephone call. (yet some companies would take longer to evaluate the "around a million" outcomes.) reliable success, and do not forget those "thank you" notes. -- Joe
