Obviously not this year. Eventually they will, they have 3 great forwards and if they can keep them together long enough they just might. Fleury is a good goaltender and will only get better.

This question and is Crosby as good as Gretzky are the two most common hockey questions on here. The answer to both is no. I can understand new fans not realizing what type of experience is needed to win the cup. Some aspects of the game have changed, but take a look at Gretzky’s statistics.

When Gretzky won the Stanley Cup he had racked up 914 regular season points, and a 3 year average of just over 200 points a year. Crosby has 222 points in 2 years, and made only 120 points this year. In Wayne’s first year, he had 137 points and they were knocked out in the first round. Year 2 they lost in the second round. Year 4 they lost in the finals. It wasn’t until year 5 did they win. The other thing is the Oilers had better goaltending and more depth than the Penguins currently have.

Things have changed some, and there are other x factors coming into play. Mostly hot goalies have done well. Pittsburgh doesn’t have that. It is too easy to shut down a team’s rookie line that is their only scoring source. Add to that an average rookie goaltender.

Nips I appreciate your critiques and most of the time you're actual. besides the fact that I might desire to take concern this reaction to penguin boy's query. who're you to assert the pens have not confronted all of us. Who has detroit confronted? A dallas team that hasn't shown up, a colorado team riddled with injuries oh and nashville who has truly offered their team to philly. Detroit has been surprising yet do not say the pens have not performed all of us. They beat a banged up ottawa yet because of the fact that then have performed a rangers team that supposedly in accordance to the media could have overwhelmed the pens and that they are destroying the flyers. As I reported till now it's going to be a lengthy sequence that the pens have a shot against the pink wings. and that i'm purely announcing this to the detroit followers who think of they are going to win in a sweep or in 5, if the Pens win the Cup i might choose for to confirm humble pie eaten via you. For people who say Detroit in 6 or 7 this would not word to you. If besides the fact that the Pens do get swept or lose in 5 i'll be at here to congratulate the pink wings. i admire the pink wings and appreciate what they have completed yet of course i'm a pens fan first.

They have just as good a chance as any other team in the playoffs. The key is that they have to peak during the playoffs and that goes for any team. Saturday's win was a big boost. As far as being too young, there is a plus side to that because they don't know how good they really are. Hopefully that should keep their heads on straight for the rest of the games. I'll be at the Igloo tomorrow and I can't wait. The young legs should give them the advantage but you never know.
Lets Go Pens!

No, the Penguins will not win the Stanley Cup -- in 2007.

The Ottawa Senators will still defeat them, even though the Pens prevailed earlier today to square the series 1-1.

Pittsburgh's young players don't have enough experience to win a Cup just yet.

I think that they won't because they don't have much playoff experience, but who knows since they are playing without much pressure. I would like to see the Red Wings win the cup.

Eventually. They still don't look like they will get out of round one. I say in about 3 years if things go as they are, they may have a chance. Next year, hopefully they make round 2 or 3.

Not this year. We are talking about a team composed of very young players. Except for a few guys, (Gonchar, Roberts etc) they do not have the expereince needed to win it all.
Goaltending is the cornerstone to a championship team and Fleury still has too many skeletons in his closet to overcome to win it this season. (World Junior Championship)

They don't have a hope in hell! They will be lucky to make the semi's. Give them a year or two or three and then they will have a real shot. They are getting scary but they are not quite there yet.
