LOL I know this will sound cheezy, but pots, pans, and boxes. My babies loved to bang their special pots and pans in the kitchen while I made dinner. I actually got this from a parenting magazine, but you can put lots of socks and other soft things in a box. Lift them up over your head and let them drop. It teaches your baby about gravity. They can also touch and feel the things you put in the box, like rough, soft, squishy..etc.

I agree witht he last post. I have that one and a fisher price ball blaster or something like it. Not sure the name. Its kinda big, but balls spin around the ramps and shoot out either side. It plays music in different modes for different ages. Its a big 3/4 circle, front top flips up when standing. We ordered more balls through fisher price and would kepp putting them in and make ball everywhere. We had a ton of family fun doing this.

A toy piano! I would love that if III was nine months old. You'd be encouraging creativity and maybe be raising the next Beethoven :)

This is going to sound old-fashioned, but my kid LOVED those stacking cups. He would bang them, throw them, carry them around, put stuff in them, take them with him in the bath, everything. For about three months I only have pictures of my son and his stacking cups. Cheapest and best toy ever.

The fisher-price ball popper is pretty cool. It will help with his hand eye coordination because the balls pop out all over the place and he's got to go after them then put them back in to be popped out again. I think its for ages 12m and up, but you could get it now and have him grow into it. One tip: don't get cheap batteries for it because they die really fast.
