It seems the good majority of the time you ask a question on this board, it is not answered. All sides do this whether you are left, right, or in the middle. You ask a question and people either don't know the answer or state why they hate the other party. The site is calle Yahoo Answers, not Yahoo Dodging the Question.

For the sarcastic and blind, the question is in yellow shade. It is tough to see, it was the topic.

That's simple. If I were to be on the board, and I spoke and took one side of an issue, then there is the possibility that I would alienate 50% of the people. Given enough time and enough topics, I could alienate all the people and hence all of the voters, who put me in office in the first place. I wouldn't be in that position for very long. But, if I talk around a subject, or avoid going to the left or the right, I will be liked by more people, and hence, stand a better chance of being reelected to the office, since I wouldn't have made anyone turn against me for my views.

The extremists can find opportunity in any question to bash the other party. I personally avoid questions I don't have an answer for.

You did say political conversations ! I always presumed that political and not answering the asked question were one and the same. Politics is all about skating around questions...

In politics, people fight with their emotions not with their brains.
