In my opinion the strongest team so far is Ottawa, because the Ottawa Senators aren't often in the national spotlight, so it might come as a surprise to people across the country this spring just how good defencemen Chris Phillips and Anton Volchenkov really are.
Those two are one of the best shutdown pairs in the league. They take a lot of pride in what they do.
Phillips and Volchenkov were assigned to stop Sidney Crosby's top line in a matchup that went Ottawa's way in Wednesday night's 6-3 victory, handing the Senators a 1-0 lead in the first-round, best-of-seven series.
p.s. most of the info is from the website bellow, I choose a team based on best judgement.

Without knowing what's going to happen in Calgary's Game 2, I have to say that Vancouver currently looks the strongest of the Canadian teams. Now that Pittsburgh has their "first time jitters" out of the way, Ottawa will likely fall in 6.
If Iginla can make up for a poor Game 1 with a monster Game 2, and if the defensemen can prevent some of those 46 shots from being taken at Kiprusoff (and he saved 42 of them), then Calgary can beat Detroit in Game 2 and take the series in 6, which will make them look even stronger than Vancouver, but unless that happens, I stand by my top paragraph.

Vancouver does. I always expected a 7 game battle for them in round 1. It is Ottawa that was pretty disappointing today. They have the easiest round one match up and they are best to finish them off quickly. Calgary, I may have to rethink them all together.
I had expected all 3 to make it out of round one.

well the canucks lost like 3 players in one game, but anytime you got that madman louongo in net you got a shot, the flames still to me are the favorites of the canadian city teams, ottawa will prolly get beat by the pens, i just have a feeling the pens will come out the east, but theflames have the best chance even though they got beat by detroit, the have the kipper, and iginla will rebound in a big way

After so many disappointing playoff defeats in recent years, this could be Ottawa's year. Could be. Playoffs are so unpredictable though.

No question, The Sens. I know they lost today, but they are too solid of a team to lose this round.

Ottawa's been pretty strong this whole season and has held together. They also have looked good in the playoffs too.
