If you have any good books or websites to suggest for info, I'd appreciate it. Also, are the US and other foreign troops still there or did they evacuate? The Iraq stuff is overshadowing all that!

After the peace settlement for Bosnia, Serbia was warned to not to try to get more territory, and when they stared to acquire territory in Kosovo the US and NATO nations started a bombing campaign until they changed policy. The strong actions was motivated by the revelation of the Serbian atrocities that had taken place in Bosnia. There is no active fighting but NATO and some (Russian??) troups are still there as peace keepers, but I think the US has only a small number.

Several European countries and the Soviet Union asked for international cooperation to put down a series of civil wars and cultural conflicts. They feared the chaos of the terrorist groups would get past Yugoslavia's borders.

President Clinton gave the United Nations control of our troops to crush some of the warring factions.

At this time there are troops from many nations still in Yugoslavia. To the best of my knowledge President Clinton never gave his exit strategy or date.

... and there were no WMD's.

... and for the most part, none of the various groups ever helped launch an attack on American soil.

For all intent and purposes, the United States left the area and the United Nations got involved in Yugoslavian war.....don't know if the U.N. army is still there or not for sure.

Good question. They never found MWD's. Remember that war was ok since it was started by a democrat.
