Surely there will be one. His recent demise has affected me deeply. I wish we could have a national day of mourning like they did for President Gerald Ford. Kurt did more for the national psyche than Gerald Ford ---by a long shot. He would have found it hilarious that the day he died he was barely mentioned because of Don Imus's "nappy headed hos" remark. Ah, but those of us who loved him remember him well, and always. Hi Ho, Kurt.

Why not his hometown:
"The author of at least 19 novels, many of them best-sellers, as well as dozens of short stories, essays and plays, Vonnegut relished the role of a social critic. Indianapolis, his hometown, declared 2007 as "The Year of Vonnegut" _ an announcement he said left him "thunderstruck."

Mr. Vonnegut is one of my favorite authors; I've read and thoroughly enjoyed all of his works, especially Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse Five.
The world was a much better place when he was here and commenting on what he experienced. And the world is a much poorer place now that he's no longer with us.

And so it goes.

God Bless you, Mr. Vonnegut.

Boy I have to agree with you there!! I have read ALL of his books. He was one of the great minds of his time, funny smart, original and not afraid to say the unsaid. His statue should be on a space station that everyone will know about but those of us who care can look up and see it.

They should erect a mini-statue in every slaughterhouse, and then a huge one in a ballet studio.
