I'm so tired of this pattern. I just can't go out and enjoy without a drink. I don't like alcohol, I'm not even addicted to it but I use it it to try and forget how sad my life has become.
I don't even have a question for you, I just had to say this.
Thanx for reading this!

Sorry guys, I didn't explain myself properly. I do not drink all the time. Only when I go out, with my mates, which is every other weekend. I don't drink too much because I am small and my body cannot handle too much alcohol anyway, but my worry is that instead of having a laught , I do drink to try and forget about what hurts me.

But do you forget? That's the thing....whatever motivated you to drink...the problem will still be there the next day. Along with the hangover...so really, drinking isn't helping. You need to change this pattern, or you will become dependent, and that will be a whole other problem to deal with. You need to focus on whatever's bothering you, and what you can do to change it. Focusing on what you never had, don't have, and won't have is futile. You can have anything you want, if you want it badly enough. You just have to motivate yourself. Here's a hug for you, and good luck.

Rather, you drink because it is what you know how to do. You drink the alcohol because you don't know what to do instead. Thus, the correct tactic is to set the bottle aside and spend some time in the pain of focusing on what you can do instead. Admittedly, alcohol is the best analgesic and would numb the pain and stress of thinking of how to find what you don't have. Unfortunately, alcohol ALSO muddles the thinking. You really must choose between painlessness and thoughtfulness. But only the latter will get you what you really want.

I think you are what is called a binge drinker. If you continue with this pattern then it may turn into a problem and may become addicted. I think that you need to pay attention to your drinking problem if it is really affecting you. I think that a lot of people depend on alcohol to make them happy, as a co dependency. Have you ever tried to just go out with your friends sober, you may enjoy it and you may see a difference. If you feel that you need a drink to socialise, then maybe you have a problem, need to admit it and need to find some type source of help.

You've admitted this much, and you've put it into words---that's pretty good.
But your life will only get MUCH more sad with drinking, and you'll put your loved ones and everyone else you know through hell, too. This chemical will kill you--your mind and your body.
Get to Alcoholics Anonymous as fast as possible and get your life back.

What ever the problem is your trying to hide from isn't going to go away. not if its every weekend. Your gonna have to face it and deal with it no matter how horrible and heartcrushing and scary it is.

Have you thought about the fact that maybe your life is the way it is because all you do is drink. You keep whining about what you dont have but you dont do anything to change the fact that your life is the way it is. Anyway I will keep you in my prayers and hope that your life changes for the best.
