I never liked him but he was a remnant of what the world looked like before Globalization endangered the habitats of many of the animals that Irwin worked with like crocodiles et al. He was very telegenic; his wife was American and his family went everywhere he went. The ray that killed him would have been caught up in some commercial fishing vessel if Irwin hadn't captured it - commercial fishing vessels are sweeping the ocenas clean of fish.

Beats me... He was over the edge in his work. I mean its okay to love animals and teach about them but its a little beyond reality when you have to kiss a dangerous animal on the nose for publicity. I guess he was so over the top, it provided weird entertainment for some folks!

because he did so much to preserve natural haitats for the animals, he also taught a lot about their habits and life styles. He spoke for the animals because they couldnt.
